This tribe's 600 members had no enclosed meeting place before the construction of this 6,000-square-foot, $3 million community center. It was located on lands once occupied by Duwamish villages. The longhouse form was re-used to express continuity with earlier Duwamish building traditions. Some of the funding for the center came from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.
