Financing for the Fauntleroy Place Mixed-Use Development, originally envisioned to contain a Whole Foods Supermarket and Hancock Fabrics Store in its first floor retail space, fell apart during the serious financial instability of 2008-2009. The developer of the property, BlueStar Management, Incorporated, filed suit against the site's owners in 2009, triggering a long feud among developer, lenders and the property owner. Ground was actually broken for the supermarket in 02/2010, but came to a stop soon thereafter. The anchor tenant, Whole Foods Market IP, L.P., officially terminated its agreement to occupy with the BlueStar in 07/2010, scuttling any development for the foreseeable future. The Whole Foods Store was scheduled to open in 02/2011.
