Opened in a remodeled building, this was the first Whole Foods Market on the West Coast. The first Whole Foods grocery opened in Austin, TX, on 09/20/1980; the next to open were stores in Houston, TX, Dallas, TX, and New Orleans, LA. In 2010, the company indicated that it had 270 stores in North America and the UK.
