The Sammamish City Council unanimously voted for a project to create a new, walkable neighborhood consisting of up to 2,000 houses and 600,000 square feet of commercial space. The site, located at the intersection of SE 4th Street and 228th Avenue SE, encompassed 243 acres.
The City of Sammamish passed this measure in the hope of regulating and shaping the nature of what was expected to be rapid development in the region.
