Washington State University ran afoul of conservationists in 2006-2008, when it expanded its golf course, using precious water from the Grande Ronde Aquifer for an extra nine holes.
An $8 million renovation added 9 holes to the existing 9-hole course, beginning in 2006. It was set for completion by Labor Day 2008.
