Building Notes
The Seattle Council of the Girls Scouts of America founded Camp Tarywood in 1933. Rosalind H.] Clise (1891-1979) of the Seattle Council and Paul McMichael of the Seattle Rotary Club collaborated on finding a nearby camp site for Puget Sound scout troops. Rosalind Clise, born in CT, was married to the prominent financier and real estate businessman Charles F. Clise (1891-1961). Both Rosalind and Charles were benefactors of the local Girl Scouts Council. Seattle's Rotary Club bought 10 acres on southern Mercer Island c. 1932 and donated the parcel to the Girl Scouts. In the summer of 1933, School of Forestry students from the University of Washington erected the first lodge opened in 11/1933. Twelve Girl Scout leaders trained there 11/04-05/1933 and later that month 40 scouts stayed overnight in the lodge and 85 others used the camp for day hikes.
Demolition
