The Associated Vintners Winery was started by several professors of the University of Washington. David Lake served as the primary winemaker leading the operation form 1979-2006. Constellation Brands, Incorporated, or Fairport, NY, and Ascentia Wine Estates, a private company based in CA, bought this Woodinville, WA-based winery in 06/2008. Healdsbrug, CA-based Ascentia was headed by James DeBonis and owned by a consortium including William and Peter Deutsch, owners of the wine importing company, W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd., and GESD Capital Partners, a private equity food and beverage investor, located in San Francisco, CA.
