Mullendore had strong ties to Herbert Hoover; he worked with him as Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce, 1922-1923, and did other work in Europe with Hoover. He later served as President, Southern California Edison, 1945-1953; he retired in 1953. Mullendore lived in this house in 1956.
