Freehold Group served as the main developer of the Interbay section of Seattle, an area adjacent to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Yards just east of Magnolia. This developer buying properties along 15th Avenue NW for the purpose of creating high-rise, 125-foot towers for "affordable" housing and commercial and retail space. The area in question encompassed 7.5 acres and awaited land-use revisions by the City of Seattle. In 2008, zoning limited use of this land to buildings of 40 feet and lower; the developer wanted to build at above 10 stories. Jeff Thompson, Chuck Read and Ray Bartel were leading investors in this project.
