In his earliest years of practice, Hanson obtained commissions for several school buildings, both secondary and university. Hanson attended the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault, and had social connections in the city that may have enabled this commission.

Hanson designed this building in a simplified version of the Romanesque Revival Style; the building had a simple rectangular plan covered by a hipped roof. Two tourelles stood above dual entry doors on the front facade.

Demolished.
