The architect Clifford A. Balch and the firm of Walker and Eisen associated on the design of this United Artists Theatre in Pasadena. The trio had collaborated on other designs for United Artists, including the California UA Theatres in El Centro, Inglewood, East Los Angeles and Berkeley at about the same time. Balch and Walker and Eisen collaborated on several UA Theatres that were not built including those in the California cities of Santa Ana, Oakland, Palo Alto, San Jose and Vallejo. Walker and Eisen also designed the mammoth UA Theatre on Broadway in Los Angeles, working with the well-known movie palace architect, C. Howard Crane.
A new facade was added to the theatre in the 1960s, although this was removed more recently. While the shell of the building remained in 2008, its interior had been removed to make room for retail space.
