This was one of three local breweries that combined in 1893 to form the Seattle Brewing and Malting Company. The other two breweries were the J. Hemrich & Co. and the Claussen-Sweeney Brewing Company. Initially after consolidation, all three breweries operated, but, over time, two were phased out and the Claussen-Sweeney Brewing Company grew into a huge facility.
