Building History
This company started in 1897 as an oufitter for miners during the Klondike Gold Rush. In 1940, Winifred Filson served as the President of C.C. Filson, Incorporated, and George Stroble was the Secretary-Treasurer. The company sold men's furnishings, alligator coats, Duofold underwear, Bone-dry shores, Stetson hats, and manufacturing its own khaki clothing. Its factory was located at 1001-1003 2nd Avenue, Seattle, WA. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1940, p. 532.)
It began offering a women's wear line in 03/01/2008, and still made more than 70% of its clothing in Seattle, WA. In 2012, the company relocated to new manufacturing and sales facilities at 1741 1st Avenue South in Seattle.
