Perloff Hall has housed the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at UCLA, and was named in honor of Harvey S. Perloff (1915-1984), the former Dean of the former Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and was a significant scholar in the field of regional economics. According to a colleague, "He was instrumental in introducing the Planning specializations of social and environmental policy." (See "Harvey S.
