The Orange County Board of Supervisors renamed the Orange County Airport to the "John Wayne Airport" in 1979. This terminal was named for Tom Riley, an Orange County Supervisor who promoted the expansion of the John Wayne Airport throughout the 1980s. Architects, LPA, Incorporated, of Irvine, CA, designed Orange County's $60-million Tom Riley terminal at the John Wayne Airport.
