The Town School was established in 1935. This former Colonial Revival mansion on Grove Street housed the Town School from 1935-1939. During 1938-1939, it was known as the Tamalpais Junior School, as it operated a cooperative program with the Tamalpais School in San Rafael, CA, whereby boys under sixth grade came to San Francisco, while boys older than sixth grade were bused to the San Rafael location.
