A temporary grandstand along the route of the Tournament of Roses Parade collapsed on 01/01/1926, killing three and injuring many others. A variety of structural flaws--including the omission of cross bracing, the use of poor-grade lumber, poor workmanship, anchor blocks were left out, and posts did not rest on their sills effectively--caused this accident.
