Overview

The LAFD Engine Company #1, Station #1 stood next to the city's City Hall from 1871 until 1884. The Los Angeles City Directory of 1883 (p. 32), indicated that the station was located on "Spring Street near Franklin." With the construction of the Plaza Fire Station in 1884, this adobe building was decommissioned.

Building Notes

The Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1886, p. 136, indicated that the Los Angeles Fire Department, Engine House #1, was located "opposite the Plaza." In that year, I. Velsir was its engineer.
