This first city hall for Georgetown, an industrial area incorporated in 1904, was located behind J.A. Ward's Exchange Saloon, and contained the city offices and the fire department. A second city hall was built in 1909. Georgetown's business leaders decided to incorporate in 1904 to protect their economic interests (such as breweries and saloons) from those who sought to impose prohibition on the area.
