This house type was reintroduced from the American South to Southern California; a long, thin dwelling, the shotgun house could be easily built and transported and was often used in Southern California as temporary housing for workers or as weekend housing.

This shotgun house dated from the 1890s;

This shotgun house was moved to a storage site twice; first from its original location on Second Street in the Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica, and then to a new location at Second Street and Norman Place, on 11/12/2005.
