This store and factory was located on Jackson Street near Sansome Street.

The first Ghirardelli Factory was a three-story brick building, and produced chocolate as well as coffee and spices. A fire originating in the coffee roasting room, completely destroyed the building, causing $75,000 damage. At the time, forty employees worked here.

Demolished by fire, 10/30/1896.
