This was one of the earliest Seattle designs by the architect John Parkinson (1861-1935), who moved to the city just after its disastrous fire of 06/06/1889. Another IOOF Hall was produced by Boone and Meeker at this same time; Parkinson may have lost out on this commission to Boone and Meeker, probably Seattle's most prestigious architectural firm at the time.
