Paul Allen's Vulcan Development Corporation financed these two South Lake Union office towers built to accommodate the Seattle-based online retailer, Amazon.com.
Vulcan Real Estate commissioned three sculptures by UW Art Professor, Jamie Walker, the first of which, "Beacon" was set up in a plaza at Terry Avenue North between Mercer Street and Republican Street on 10/12/2010. Twelve feet tall, the sculpture consisted of a group of conjoined aluminum spheres. A second sculpture, "Cloud," was to erected on 10/13/2010 nearby. A final work entitled "Toto," was to be assembled later, evoking the strong connection between humans and their pets.
