This Miracle Mile store opened on 02/24/1949. In 07/1952, there were two Mullen and Bluett Department Stores in Los Angeles, CA; one at 5570 Wilshire Boulevard, in the Miracle Mile District and one in Downtown Los Angeles, at South Broadway and West Sixth Street. The Miracle Mile store was designed to serve clients in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood and the rapidly expanding West Los Angeles neighborhoods.
Stiles O. Clements designed the two-story, 55,000-square-foot Mullen and Bluett Store in 1947-1948. Los Angeles designers, Burke and Kober, designed the interiors and store equipment. The center of the store's first floor featured a rotunda punctuated by four columns; around this highlighted space, women's high-profit cosmetics, perfumes, hosiery and handbags were displayed. A parking area behind the store accommodated 150 autos originally.
Demolished 2006. A number of "Miracle Mile" buildings were torn down during the building boom of the mid-2000s.
