This small space accommodated Pucci's Italian Restaurant, which opened c. 1934. A reputed bookmaker, Herman Byron, purchased the restaurant/lounge, and renamed it the Dresden after a favorite brand of wallpaper and dishes. Carl Ferraro purchased the Dresden in 1954, and continued operating it as an upscale restaurant. More recently, this bar featured live music and the local personalities, Marty and Elayne.

In 1964, the Dresden's owner, Carl Ferraro, took over a small shoe store located next to his restaurant. He commissioned the interior designer, Guy Moore, to design the interior of the new dining room that replaced the shoe store.
