Structure Type: built works - commercial buildings - stores
Designers: Clark Design Group PLLC (firm); Brenda Barnes (architect); W. Scott Clark ; Meredith Wirsching
Dates: [unspecified]
This development consisted of two 75,000 square foot buildings joined by pedestrian alleys; the divided plan was necessitated by the much-publicized refusal of elderly Edith Macefield to sell her house to developers. Instead, the project architect, Scott Clark designed the project around both Macefield's house and Mike's Chili Parlor at 1447 NW Ballard Way. The eastern building would stand only 2 stories, with a Trader Joe's Supermarket anchoring the first floor; other retail businesses would occupy the second floor. The western building would consist of a 500-car, four-floor parking garage, topped by an LA Fitness Center.
