In 2007, this cafe--run by felons, recovering addicts, and the formerly homeless--generated $57,000 a month in sales. It was one of two Mezza Cafes operated by Pioneer Food Services, a Seattle company dedicated to providing "fringe" members of society a second chance. The other cafe, which earned $225,000 a month, was located in the Starbucks Center in Seattle.
