Neiman Marcus of Dallas, TX, opened a 125,000-square-foot department store that anchored the Bravern shopping complex in Bellevue, WA. This store occupied about one-third of the Bravern's shopping and dining square footage when it opened on 09/12/2009. The developer of the Bravern was Schnitzer West. To fit its Pacific Northwest clientele, the interior of the Neiman Marcus was described by a company vice-president as "very organic," with frequent use of various woods and stone.
The opening of the Bravern shopping mall and its Neiman Marcus department store on 09/12/2009 occurred during a significant lull in the economy; its 800 new jobs were a boon to the area, but doubts remained about the mall's ability to profit in a deep recession.
