The Bush School was founded in 1924 by Helen Taylor Bush in her home. In 1930, Mrs. Bush acquired the property adjacent to Lake Washington Boulevard where the present campus is located. The school was co-ed for grades K-8, with the Upper School for girls only, until 1970 when the school became co-ed, K-12. Enrollment In the 2004-2005 school year, approximately 560 boys and girls attend The Bush School, with 185 in the Lower School (grades K-5), 156 in the Middle School (grades 6-8), and 219 in the Upper School (grades 9-12). There are, on average, approximately 12 to 18 students per classroom teacher with several teaching specialists adding support in specific subject areas.
