The estate was located in Woodland Park, in between the Phinney Ridge and Green Lake Neighborhoods.

Built after lumber mill owner/real estate magante Guy C. Phinney purchased 180 acres for his estate in 1887. The estate also featured a conservatory, formal gardens, a promenade, the "Woodlands Hotel," and a menagerie.
