The KPF's Chief Designer, William Pederson, said of this design: "Facing Lake Washington, this building evokes an imagery of sail and mast. The abstractedness of the tower's form is countered by the classically centered composition of its lower base. This juxtaposition is intended to heighten the intensity of human interaction with the building as it meets the ground." (p. 193)
