The family had moved to Portland, OR, by 1910, to a dwelling at 936 East (now NE) Davis Street. (See, Source Citation Year: 1910; Census Place: Portland Ward 8, Multnomah, Oregon; Roll: T624_1287; Page: 12A; Enumeration District: 0210; FHL microfilm: 1375300, accessed 10/21/2016.) The Portland, Oregon, City Directory, 1918, (p. 378) indicated that Doty was in the US Army at that time, and lived at 42 East 84th Street North.

Harold and Donna Doty owned a residence at 697 East 46th Street North in 1929. (See Portland, Oregon, City Directory, 1929, p. 567.) According to the US Census of 1930, this house had an approximate value of $6,000. His father, Morton (born c. 07/1868 in OR-d. 01/10/1920 in Jacksonville, OR), was a Spokane hardware merchant in 1900. His mother, Cora Delle Fudge (born c. 01/1870 in WA-d. 02/11/1926 in Spokane, WA) managed the household. At age 30, she had had two children, Harold, and his sister, Beatrice (born c. 10/1892). Cora and Morton married c. 1890. Harold's family had come from IN, Cora's IL. Cora's parents were Julia Piper and James Fudge.


He married Donna Spencer Doty (born 07/18/1897 in Walla Walla, WA) c. 1925. Her father was Charles W. Spencer, her mother, Ann E. Jenks.
