Jeannette Dyer Spencer worked as an interior designer at the Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite Village, CA; she also produced artwork at the Ahwahnee, a mural done in oils and a stained glass window. She also completed stained glass windows for a Congregationalist Church in Oakland, CA

Personal

Born in Cleveland, OH, Jeannette Dyer attended Western Reserve University in that city, prior to enrolling at the University of California Berkeley's Department of Architecture in 1915. She relocated for a short time to New York, NY, while she took art classes at Columbia University. Thereafter, she and her husband made a grand tour in Europe c. 1923; at this time, she also took classes at the École du Louvre. They returned to the Bay Area in 1925, where they remained for the rest of their lives.

She married her UCB Department of Architecture classmate, Eldridge "Ted" Spencer (1892-1978) in 1920.

Jeannette Spencer and her husband, Eldridge, spent months living in Paris and traveling throughout Europe in the early 1920s. They were friends with the San Francisco architect, William W. Wurster, with whom they traveled in France, c. 1923.
