Personal

Percival J. Walker was born c. 1875 in CA. Walker and his family resided at 1133 5th Avenue in the Brooklyn portion of Oakland, CA, in 1910. At this time, the family employed a young nurse, Rosetta Holmes (born c. 1880 in CA) and a Japanese-born cook, Ishii Naogi (born c. 1876). The US Census of 1920 recorded that the Walkers lived in a rented house at 23 Highland Avenue, Piedmont, CA. They retained two servants at that time, a Japanese-American "house boy," Henry Hiramoto (born c. 1875 in Japan) and Annie Johnson, a Swedish immigrant (born c. 1879 in Sweden), who cooked for the family. Five years later, Walker lived with his wife and two children in a residence at 30 Sea View Avenue, Piedmont, CA. According to the US Census of 1930, this house was worth an exorbitant $150,000.

Walker's father was from English-speaking Canada, his mother, NY. The US Census of 1880 included an entry for a Walker Family living in Oakland, CA, at 134 5th Avenue. This family may have been that of P.J. Walker, and included possibly his father, a J.C. Walker, a "shoe bottomer" or cobbler, (born c. 1844 in English-speaking Canada), mother, M.A. Walker (born c. 1849 in either NJ or NY), J. Walker (presumably P.J. Walker, born c. 1875 in CA), a sister, F.M. Walker, (born c. 1876 in CA) and a brother, G.C. Walker (born 03/1879 in CA).

Percy J. Walker, Sr. married Edith Lynn Walker (born 06/09/1880 in Sacramento, CA) around 1904; Edith's father came from NJ, her mother, Australia.

Walker and his wife had two children: Marjorie Walker (born c. 1905 in CA), and Percy J. Walker, Jr., (born c. 1909 in CA).

Member, Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW). According to a passport application of 1908, Walker, at age 33, stood 5 feet 11 inches tall, had blond hair and green eyes. In 1908, he and Edith intended to spend six months or less abroad.
