Description: The 84-acre site is near San Clemente, California, in San Diego County. Unit 1 is no longer in service. This reactor was a first generation Westinghouse commercial unit that operated for 25 years, closing permanently in 1992. Ownership: San Onofre power plant is operated by Southern California Edison Company. The ownership set up is as follows: Edison International (75.1 percent), San Diego Gas & Electric Company (20 percent), Anaheim Public Utilities Department (3.2 percent), and the Riverside Utilities Department (1.8 percent)."
