Building History

This was a popular horse-racing venue in early Los Angeles, CA.

Building Notes

The banker Isaias W. Hellman was a leading figure in the construction of an important early trolley line--Main Street and Agricultural Park Railway--that linked Downtown with the Agricultural Park in 1874.

William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917) staged a performance of his Wild West Show at Agricultural Park in 09/1902, the beginning of his final tour that lasted between 1902 and 1906. (See Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show advertisement, Los Angeles Express, 09/24/1902, p. 4.)
