Edward J. "Ned" Ovington and his wife, Emily, operated their eponymous resort beginning in 1905. Around 1910, the resort was only open during the summer. By 1920, the resort consisted of a main lodge with rustic fireplace, living room and dining room, encircled by 20 detached cabins. The U.S. Government ran a post office at the camp between 1914-1942, and finally acquired the property in 1947. It leased it to another resort operator who ran what was known as In 1947 the U.S. government purchased Ovington's, and soon after leased the property to a concessionaire who renamed the resort Beardslee Bay Camp.

The dining room was added to the east side of the resort's main lodge building sometime between 1910-1920.
