The house of Joseph Atkinson was one of the early mansions of San Francisco, a venue for many gatherings of local high society, and the site of many occult seances. The Atkinson House survived the Earthquake and Fire of April 1906 and remains in 2007.

An addition was made to the Atkinson House, and its exterior was stuccoed over at some point.
