In 2007, the City of Kent, WA, explored the idea of building a 6,500-8,000 seat arena in its downtown to complement its Kent Station development of shops and restaurants. The approximate size was set at 175,000 square feet and was scheduled for a Fall 2008 opening. Efforts were underway in 2007 to entice the minor league hockey team, the Seattle Thunderbirds, to play here.
