Opened in 1886 as a stagecoach stop, this Santa Barbara County hotel and restaurant has been known variously as the Central Hotel, Hotel Los Olivos, and Mattei's Tavern. For a number of years, a Swiss settler, Felix Mattei, and and his wife, Lucy, operated their tavern in this location. Brother's Restaurant now occupies a portion of the this property.

It was known as the Hotel Los Olivos in 1908.
