In 1890, the Clohessy and Strengele Map of Portland, OR, put out by real estate man James M. Wood, showed the following businesses occupying space in the Kamm Block: Buckingham and Hecht Boots and Shoes and Charles Hegele and Company, importers of crockery, china, glassware, lanterns and lamps.
