Building History

Mrs. Cornelia A. Hill commissioned the Los Angeles architectural firm of Dennis and Farwell to design this country estate in the mid-1890s. This firm operated in Southern CA between 1895 and 1913. Hill lived on this estate for only a short amount of time before selling it to the Neenah, WI-based paper magnate, John Alfred Kimberly (1838-1928), one of the founders of the Kimberly-Clark Company. As was becoming the fashion for Midwestern moguls during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kimberly spent the winters here instead of the frigid Fox River Valley.
