Plans called for Stanford University to partner with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts of Dallas, TX, to build a 123-room hotel on a 16-acre lot approximately 1 mile from the campus; in 2005, Rosewood operated 12 luxury hotels across the world; at its opening on Thursday, April 2, 2009, the hotel had 91 rooms costing between $200-$495, one-bedroom villas for $1,500-$2,500 and a presidential villa that came complete with two bedrooms, two baths, powder room, pantry, private terraces, great room and panoramic views of the Santa Cruz Range cost $2,500-$3,500.
