First built as a hotel for innkeeper and California pioneer, George Greene; purchased in 1931 by the legendary philanthropist, Mrs. Sigmund Stern, who donated the "Stern Grove" to the City of San Francisco as a park and concert venue;

Architects Page and Turnbull supervised the renovation of the Clubhouse;
