Beginning in 1931, William Davies, a resident of Altadena, CA, led an effort to build this Arts and Crafts community center in Charles S. Farnsworth Park. Using WPA funds and labor, the center was completed in 1934. In 1943, the clubhouse, a local Altadena resource, was renamed to memorialize Davies. The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation began to maintain the park and Davies Building in 1957.

The Davies Memorial Building's Arts and Crafts character reflected the long tradition of such design in Pasadena, CA, and Altadena, CA, beginning with the Greene Brothers and the Heinemans. The Altadena Women's Club (along with a few other benefactors) paid for the fittings (door handles, light fixtures, and other wrought-iron work, for example,) and furnishings within the building. Tel: (626) 798-6335 (2010).

In 2008, 142 items within Farnsworth Park were renovated.
