Building History

The Medina Academy operated as a religious school teaching precepts of the Muslim faith. According to a 2009 article in the Seattle Times, about 60,000 to 75,000 Muslims lived in the Puget Sound area, and the population was expanding, requiring new facilities. (See Janet I. Tu, Seattle Times, com, "New mosques on Eastside to accommodate expanding Muslim community," published 08/21/2009, accessed 08/23/2022.)
