Building History

The San Francisco Callreported on a new apartment building being designed in Alameda, CA, by architect Thomas Dean Newsom (1855-1912): "Work will be begun shortly on a fine, large apartment house in Santa Clara avenue, just west of Grand street. It is to be a three-story structure in the mission style of architecture. Herman & Herman are the contractors, and the plans and specfications are by Thomas Dean Newsom of Oakland. The contract price of the building is $10,000." (See "New Playhouse for Alameda" San Francisco Call, 03/01/1909, p. 4.)
