Building History

The original name for this school, the "Hastings Primary School," was changed in 1885 to the "Pacific Heights School." The Daily Alta California newspaper reported on 01/29/1885: “The report of the Committee on Rules and Regulations was read, which recommended that the name of the Hastings Primary School be changes to the Pacific Heights School, the Ewing Primary School to the Whittier Primary School, after the Quaker poet, John G.
