Building History

The Los Angeles Times wrote in its issue of 03/18/1904: "The school trustees have accepted plans of Architect Bradbeer of Los Angeles for a $12,000 school building to be erected on the northwest corner of the Atlantic avenue school property. The trustees will also build an addition to the High School building." (See "Beach News," Los Angeles Times, 03/18/1904, p. A7.) This school was one of the last designed by James H. Bradbeer (1842-1929) in Southern CA. At about this time, Bradbeer partnered with Young and then moved to San Francisco, CA, where his wife passed away that year.
