Building History

English-born architect Edwin Walker Houghton (1856-1927) produced this four-unit apartment building for Albert Du Bois in 1905. The Seattle Daily Times published an image and short description of it in its issue of 02/11/1905: "Work has started on this handsome four-flat building, which architect E.W. Houghton has designed for Albert B. Du Bois. It is being erected at the northwest corner of Olive Street and Harvard Avenue, just across from the high school. It will cost $6,500 and will be both handsome and substantial." (See "Real Estate and Building News," Seattle Daily Times, 02/11/1905, p. 7.)
